HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Commissioner Daniel Friesen made a motion Tuesday to bring up the proposed wind farm regulations in the county next month.
"I'd like to make a motion to take from the table the CWECS zoning regulations recommended by the County Planning Commission and place it on the agenda of Sept 14th and direct staff to reconcile final thoughts of the commissioners into a proposed final draft of those regulations as well as draft any other appropriate resolutions that may be desired by a majority of this commission," Friesen said.
Commissioner Ron Sellers then made a subsequent motion regarding public input on the 14th of September.
"I would move that on the discussion of wind on September 14th, since we've all had written, verbal and email documents from pros and cons, that we take no more input from the public at that date, encouraging any communication that people might want to do to us individually before that date."
The intent would be to get the final draft to be put on the meeting agenda out ahead of time so people can email their commissioners with their thoughts on that draft specifically.
"I think we've all heard all of the arguments," Friesen said. "There's no need to make that again. If they see something in the final draft that they want to make an opinion on, that would, for me, be a lot more valuable then hearing all of the stuff that I've already heard."
Friesen anticipates that final draft to be out for public view by September 9th. The motion passed 3-0.
