Thomas ‘Tom’ Warren Tucker, 77, passed away April 22, 2022, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born June 14, 1944, in Garnett, KS, to Royal Ralph and Eleanor Louise (Jones) Tucker.
Tom was a graduate of Nickerson High School, Nickerson, KS. He was employed as an equipment operator by the Kansas Department of Transportation, retiring with over 39 years of service.
Tom loved getting his family and friends together so that he could have an excuse to fire up the smoker or grill for a tasty barbeque. He enjoyed camping and traveling the state of Kansas. Tom and Sarah had a goal of visiting every county in the state of Kansas with the intent of finding a place of interest to visit, or to have a meal at a local establishment. They were able to visit 75 of the 105 counties in Kansas together, and Sarah has plans to complete that shared goal in memory of Tom.
Tom is survived by: his partner of over 25 years, Sarah Willard of Hutchinson, KS; children, Dan Tucker and girlfriend Autumn of South Hutchinson, KS, Dallis Willard and partner Judy Leung of San Francisco, CA, and Diane Willard of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Alex Yott, Lexi Yott, Milo Willard, Margaret O’Neal, and Myranda McMillin; brother, Norman Tucker and wife Carolyn of Derby, KS; sisters-in law, Pam Tucker of Great Bend, KS, Marty Tucker of Denver, CO, and Niki Prince and husband Steven of Andover, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Davy Tucker; brothers, Clifford Tucker, Dave Tucker, and Jack Tucker; nephew, Monte Tucker; and great-nephew, Bailey Tucker.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, 206 E. Avenue E, South Hutchinson, with the Reverend Mike Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary.
