A lot of tax previsions and cuts will die in December of this year, and so politicians need to update the tax code.
That includes a lot of very important tax relief for farm families. The Farm Bureau says the really big one is the inheritance tax.
If Congress doesn't do something, the estate tax exemption will drop by 50 percent to $7.61 million on January first. That could put the future of thousands of family farms at risk and force the sale of many family operations and small businesses.
