Vivian “Carol” Hopping, 51, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Seiling Regional Medical Center in Seiling, OK. She was a former Behavior Specialist at East Central Cooperative in Education for Eudora/Wellsville/Baldwin Schools. She was also a former ED Teacher for McPherson USD 418.
Carol was born on July 12, 1970, in West Frankfort, IL, the daughter of Larry Lynn and Evelyn Louise (Marvel) Leeper. She graduated from Waldo J Memorial High School (in Oakland City, IN) and continued her education at Tabor College, Central Christian College, Indiana Wesleyan University and ACCK.
Carol was united in marriage to Russell L. Hopping on November 18, 2006 in Lawrence, KS, and this marriage was blessed with a daughter, Danika. Prior to this, Carol was married to Richard Sabatos, and this union was blessed with three boys, Damik, Dylan, and Dayne.
Carol was a member of Harmony Christian Church and was a former Kansas Teacher of the Year recipient.
Survivors include: her loving husband, Russell Hopping of the home; sons, Damik Sabatos (Theresa) of Greenville, IL, Dylan Sabatos of McPherson, and Dayne Sabatos of Naples, FL; a daughter, Danika Hopping of McPherson; and siblings, William Thomas Bacon, III of Evansville, IN, Tresa Bacon Bumgardner of Highpoint, NC, Patricia Bacon of Belvidere, IL, Melissa Leeper Drew of Royal Oak, MI, and Jerry Dunn of Indianapolis, IN; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Fred Conaway.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Harmony Christian Church with Rev. Troy Schroeder officiating.
