HAVEN, Kan. — The sales tax rate for the community of Haven will be going down soon.
Approval was given by the Haven City Council to sunset the 0.5% sales tax that was used to help pay for the new EMS facility.
The tax was put in place for 10 years and started in 2015, which means the city will pay off the EMS building more than five years ahead of time.
If all goes as planned, the tax will roll off the books April 1. The decrease will drop Haven's sales tax to 7.5%, with 6.5% from the state and 1% from Reno County.
