

Genaro “Hank” Vieyra, 87, of Hutchinson, died November 28, 2020, at his home. He was born September 19, 1933, in Garfield, to Pedro and Margaret (Delgado) Vieyra.
Hank graduated from Larned High School in 1952. He then joined the United States Army, serving from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean Conflict. Hank belonged to the VFW Bob Campbell Post 1361, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68, and the American G.I. Forum and he was a passionate fan of Raiders football and Yankees baseball. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Hank is survived by wife, Mary Smith-Vieyra, Hutchinson; sons, Chris Vieyra (Rose McGillivray), Hutchinson, Matt Vieyra (Devin), Virginia; daughters, Carol Powers (Tim), Virginia, Cindy Keim (Steve), Colorado; step daughter, Anna Fay, Virginia; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Vieyra, Inez Vieyra, both of Hutchinson, and Cecilia Gutierrez, Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Santos, Justino, and Pedro Jr.; and sister, Toni Martinez.
Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple Street, South Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the church. To view the memorial service online, search for the ‘OLG South Hutchinson’ page on YouTube. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Military Honors will be conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
