McPHERSON, Kan. — Buhler High School senior Drew DeMeyer earned medalist honors, and the Crusaders finished second as a team Thursday at the McPherson Invitational boys golf tournament at Turkey Creek Golf Course.
DeMeyer carded a 1-over-par 73 to win the individual title. Buhler posted a team score of 320, just two strokes behind team champion Salina Sacred Heart, which finished with a 318.
Zach Chance shot 79 to place seventh, and Nick Chance followed closely with an 80 to take eighth. James Dingler (88) and Brennan Geilenfeldt (89) also contributed for Buhler.
Hutchinson High School placed seventh with a 355. Senior Mitchell Rice tied for third individually with a 77. Landyn Powell (90), Maks Dreiling (93), Alex Haas (95) and Tate England (100) rounded out the Salthawks’ scoring.
Sterling High finished 10th with a 375. Cameron Morris led the Black Bears with an 86, tying for 22nd place. Wyatt Newberry shot 91, Lane Weigel added a 96 and Waylon Schmidt finished with a 102.
Host McPherson took fourth with a 347, while Newton placed 11th at 388.
Salina Sacred Heart placed four individuals in the top 10 to capture the team title.
