
HESSTON, Kan. — Hutchinson Central Christian School won the HOPL/WSL League Challenge on Tuesday at Hesston Golf Course, led by individual champion Cael Kooiman.
Central Christian School finished with a team score of 355 to win the tournament by 18 strokes over Solomon, which shot a 373. Stafford was third with a 407, while Pretty Prairie and Canton-Galva tied for fourth with 408s. Herington was sixth at 417, and Goessel was seventh at 432.
Kooiman won the individual championship with a 77 on the par-71 course. He finished one stroke ahead of Lost Springs-Centre’s Easton Glessner and Goessel’s Levi Schrag, who each shot 78.
Central Christian also got a strong finish from Tyler Reed, who tied for fourth with an 87. Adam Eigsti tied for 11th with a 93, Bo Hobbes finished 17th with a 98 and Bruce Wilson tied for 20th with a 102.
Pretty Prairie was led by Dawson Dick, who placed 11th with a 93. Eli Anderson tied for 15th with a 97, Weston Lanning tied for 22nd with a 104, Collin Weide finished 30th with a 114 and Eli Young tied for 31st with a 115.
Stafford’s Jace Kreutzer tied for fourth with an 87, while Solomon’s Breken Coup finished sixth with an 89. Herington’s Jeffery Zillyette and Solomon’s Jordan Gray tied for seventh with 91s.
