Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team earned its first opening-round Region 6 Tournament home match since 2023 this season.
The fourth-seeded Blue Dragons (18-13) will play host to the Seward County Saints (15-17) at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons will be looking to advance to the Region 6 semifinals for the second-straight season. Last year Hutchinson pulled off a reverse sweep at Butler in an opening-round match to advance to the 2025 semifinals.
Hutchinson swept a pair of regular-season matches from Seward County in the regular season.
The Blue Dragons defeated the Saints in four sets in Liberal on August 31 in the KJCCC opener for both teams. Hutchinson swept Seward County at the Sports Arena on October 7.
This will be the first postseason matchup between Hutchinson and Seward County since the 2019 Region 6 championship match in Liberal. The Blue Dragons swept the Saints in three deuce sets, clinching the match with a 31-29 win in the third set.
The winner of Wednesday's opening-round match will advance to the Region 6 semifinals, which will be played at the DC3 Student Events Center in Dodge City.
The Hutchinson-Seward County winner will play the No. 1 Dodge City/No. 8 Garden City winner at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The other semifinal between the Colby/Cloud County winner and then Barton/Butler winner will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The championship match is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday in Dodge City.
Fans for Wednesday's opening-round match will enter the Sports Arena through the west doors as usual. Blue Dragon All-Sports Tickets are not valid for this postseason event.
