WICHITA, Kan. — The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open presented by Syndeo begins Thursday morning at Crestview Country Club, marking a new chapter for one of Wichita’s longest-running professional sporting events.
The tournament, now in its 37th year, will be played Thursday through Sunday on Crestview’s North Course. The event is part of the PGA Tour Americas schedule after previously being held as a Korn Ferry Tour event.
Tournament play is expected to begin around 7 a.m. Thursday and Friday, with rounds finishing between 5 and 6 p.m. Weekend play is scheduled to begin around 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with play expected to conclude between 3 and 4 p.m.
The field will compete for a $225,000 purse, with the event serving as a stop in the PGA Tour Americas points race. The tour provides a pathway for players working toward the Korn Ferry Tour and, eventually, the PGA Tour.
Crestview Country Club, founded in 1921, moved to its current location in 1969 and is the only 36-hole country club in Kansas. Both of Crestview’s courses were designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
The North Course, which will host the tournament, measures 6,913 yards from the black tees and carries a 74.3 course rating with a slope of 131.
One of the tournament’s signature features is Michelob Ultra Corner, located at the 17th green. The area includes VIP chalets and has become known for its festive atmosphere, drawing thousands of spectators each day.
The opening round will feature morning and afternoon tee times off both the first and 10th tees. Among the early groups, William Moll, Austin Greaser and Jonny Baxter are scheduled to tee off at 6:50 a.m. on No. 1, while Omar Morales, Kieron van Wyk and Berk Harvey are scheduled to begin at the same time on No. 10.
Other notable first-round groups include Cole Anderson, Jake Staiano and Trey Bosco at 8:40 a.m. off No. 10, and Marcus Byrd, Peter Knade and Cameron Tankersley at 12:59 p.m. off No. 10.
The tournament runs through Sunday at Crestview Country Club in Wichita.
