HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Central Christian School will host its Annual Stewardship Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 15, featuring longtime Kansas City Chiefs mascot Dan Meers as the keynote speaker.
Meers, who retired following the 2024 NFL season after 35 years as KC Wolf, became one of the most recognizable and beloved mascots in professional sports. Known for his energy, humor, and heart, Meers entertained millions of fans while also serving his community with the same enthusiasm he brought to the field.
A native of St. Charles, Missouri, Meers began his mascot career as Truman the Tiger at the University of Missouri, where he won the 1989 National Collegiate Mascot Championship, and later performed as Fredbird for the St. Louis Cardinals before joining the Chiefs in 1990 as their first full-time mascot.
Beyond his years in costume, Meers has built a second career as a motivational speaker, sharing stories of faith, perseverance, and purpose. He frequently speaks to schools, churches, and organizations across the country, encouraging audiences to live with joy and make a positive difference.
“God didn’t put us on this earth to make a living,” Meers said in a 2023 interview. “He put us here to make an impact.”
The dinner will be held at 1910 E. 30th Ave. in Hutchinson. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., followed by a complimentary dinner at 6 p.m.
