KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will begin an overlay project on K-251 in Sedgwick County the week of March 16, conditions permitting. The project will improve the road surface, extending the pavement’s service life.

Work will take place on the entire length of K-251, a little less than 4 miles. K-251 runs between U.S. 54/400 and Cheney Lake State Park. Traffic will be guided through the area with flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to slow down and stop and expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Pearson Construction, of Wichita, is the prime contractor on the $3.4 million project. The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer, conditions permitting. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in South Central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/southcentralnews.
