HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Battle of the Badges in Hutchinson resulted in a win for Law Enforcement. There were 134 votes for law enforcement and 127 for fire over the three days.

The big winner, though, is patients that need blood, as 338 total units were collected of the 358 unit goal.

During this blood crisis, the Red Cross asks the country to roll up a sleeve to help ensure people in their communities receive the care they need. Make an appointment to give blood or platelets as soon as possible by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). If there is not an immediate opportunity available to donate, donors are asked to make an appointment in the days and weeks ahead to ensure the Red Cross can replenish and maintain a sufficient blood supply.

The next Hutchinson community blood drive is at First Presbyterian Church March 28-30.

Other Hutchinson area blood drives in February are at Disability Supports at Clayworks on Wednesday, February 16th and at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center pavilion on Thursday, February 24th and Friday, February 25th.
