John Allen Robinson died May 6, 2024, at Hutchinson, KS. He was born August 20, 1930, to John C. and Velma M. Robinson. John was a 1948 graduate of Hutchinson High School, attended Hutchinson Junior College, and Washburn Law School with a JD degree in 1955. He served in the United States Air Force as a JAG officer. On discharge, John returned to Hutchinson and entered the practice of law from which he retired in 1995.
John married Claire E. Cole on January 12, 1952; Claire died August 17, 1999. On November 20, 2003, he married Gail D. Harper. She survives.
Other survivors include: daughter, Gina K. Sapp (Gary), Deepwater, MO; sons, J. Craig Robinson and Ted A. Robinson (Linda), all of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Kelly Harper (Lora) and Kim Swan (Chris), all of Wichita; and eight grandchildren.
John was a past member of the American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Kansas Bar Association, and past president of the Reno County Bar Association and Southwest Kansas Bar Association. He also served the City of Hutchinson as City Prosecutor, Municipal Court Judge, and City Attorney.
Over the years, John participated in a number of local civic and community organizations. He was a past president of the Jaycees, Prairie Dunes Country Club, and a past member of the Elks, Kiwanis Toast Masters, Chamber of Commerce, and on the board for Friends of the Library.
Cremation has taken place, and per John’s wishes, no services will be held. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
