Josephine Louise ‘Jo’ Harman, 78, of Hutchinson, died October 20, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 30, 1941, in Hutchinson, to Harry B. and Dorothy M. (Cowell) Mock.

Jo graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1959, Hutchinson Community College in 1961, and attended Kansas State University. Her first job was in data entry for DCI. In addition to being a homemaker, Jo also did daycare in her own home. She worked as a legal secretary for Kansas Farmers Service Association for many years until her retirement.

Jo was known for her singing voice since high school and sang many church solos and for many weddings and funerals. She was active in the Trinity United Methodist Church Choir and Reno Choral Society. Jo was a member of First Christian Church, PEO Chapter CM, and served in the Volunteer Center of Reno County.

In August, 1970, she married Loren Shulda. They later divorced. On May 1, 1999, Jo married Everett L. ‘Ev’ Harman in Hutchinson. He died June 1, 2009.

She is survived by: daughters, Emily Buscher (Brad) and Laura Schmidt (Robert), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Luke and Abigail Buscher and Rayelle and Jett Schmidt; sisters, Shirley Brandyberry and Margaret Peter, both of Hutchinson; brother, Frank Mock (Rebecca), Mariposa, CA; former husband, Loren Shulda, Olathe; and many extended family members.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Bob Phipps officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Covid-19 precautions will be required.
