Kansas teen dies after 2-vehicle crash

POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY—A Kansas teen died in an accident just after 6a.m. Wednesday in Pottawatomie County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Toyota Camry driven Phillip Theodore Harrison, 19, St. Marys, was  westbound on U.S 24 one mile east of Onaga Road.

The passenger side tires dropped off the roadway and the driver overcorrected.

The Camry slid sideways into the east bound lane. A 2006 Dodge Ram driven by Michael Leon Weisbender , 31, struck the Camry on the passenger side.

EMS transported Harrison and Weisbender to  Wamego Medical Center where Harrison was pronounced dead. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KH P.

U.S. 24 was closed between Belvue and Onaga Road while first responders worked the accident.
