BUHLER, Kan. — The Buhler City Council gave approval to the proposed budget for 2021 during their regular meeting.
The proposed budget for 2021 totals $1,657,084 on total taxes levied of $358,713. The mill levy will fall from 51.22 to 50.65 mills. A public hearing on the budget is set for August 13 at 7 p.m.
City Clerk Merrill Peterson said they were able to trim funds from the budget by deferring some street projects that they will now do in 2022. Peterson also took time to warn the Council that even with the positive sales tax numbers that were released earlier in the day, it does not mean they are out of the woods when it comes to a possible downturn in sales.
Many feel that the push in sales during the spring months was made from sales of products that are major long term ticket items. Still, Peterson says the numbers were welcomed news.
