Margaret Jacqueline “Jacquie” Timken, loving wife and mother of two, went home to be with the Lord September 14, 2021, at the age of 73. She was born June 28, 1948, in Hays, to Thomas “Gene” and Nina (Cummings) Sims.
Jacquie graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in teaching. While attending Fort Hays State, she met Steve Timken and they were married on January 25, 1969. They raised two sons, Brian and Kevin, and fostered several children, including two girls, Stacy and Genny.
Jacquie had a passion for teaching children to read, expressed in her career of teaching at Lincoln elementary school, and St. Teresa’s and Holy Cross Catholic Schools. She had a love for reading, Bible study, and investing in other people. Jacquie cared for her grandchildren, invested in her children’s lives, and was always willing to make a new friend.
Jacquie is survived by: her husband, Steve of the home; sons Brian Timken (Kaycee) of Castle Rock, CO, Kevin Timken (Angie) of Gardner; brother, Don Sims (Carmen) of Chautauqua; sister, Sandy Yount of Sublette; grandchildren, Caden, Connor, Madison, Abby, Noah, Caleb, and Luke Timken; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Nina Sims, and brother-in-law, Bill Yount.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021, at CrossPoint Church, 1410 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary.
