🏐 Blue Dragons fall in four sets at Garden City

GARDEN CITY – Sophomore pin hitters Alondra Villanueva and Jaylynn McNeill combined 27 kills to lead the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team in its Jayhawk Conference road contest on Wednesday at Garden City.

The Blue Dragons fell 3-1 to the Broncbusters at Conestoga Arena, losing 18-25, 23-25, 25-11, 21-25.

Hutchinson is now 12-15 overall and 4-8 in the KJCCC. The Blue Dragons travel to play Seward County at 2 p.m. Saturday in Liberal. Garden City is now 10-10 overall and 7-4 in the league.

Villanueva had a team-high 15 kills and hit .303 on 33 attacks to lead the Blue Dragons against the Busters. Villanueva posted her 12th double-double of the season.

McNeill hit .363 on 33 attacks and finished with 12 kills. McNeill had three blocks.

Sophomore Atlyn Proctor has six kills and sophomore Kierny Follmer had four kills and four blocks.

Sophomore setter Angela Reupena had 39 assists, nine digs and three ace serves.

Freshman libero Clara Oliveira had 22 digs and two aces. Freshman defensive specialist McKenzye Williamson added 10 digs.

The Blue Dragons hit .185 with 40 kills on 127 attacks. The Dragons had nine service aces and five team blocks.
