

Jack Stockton ‘Rock’ Rothwell Jr., 97, passed away on June 22, 2020. Jack was born in St. Louis, MO, October 18, 1922.
He graduated from high school at Christian Brothers College, St. Louis, MO, in 1941, and the University of Missouri in 1948. Jack was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
He was active in the Army Air Corps during WWII, stationed in England. Jack served as co-pilot on a B-17 bomber, flying 25 missions during WWII. He was proudly awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroism during the war.
Jack moved to Hutchinson in 1949, to start his family. He loved golf and enjoyed playing with his friends and family every week at his beloved Prairie Dunes.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth Mary Rothwell and his parents, Jack and Marie Rothwell.
He is survived by daughter, Sylvia (Jeff Cain) Lyon of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Joe (Devon) Rothwell of Wichita, Jake (Susan) Rothwell of Bossier, LA; seven grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren.
His loving grandson, Evan Rothwell, lived and cared for Jack in his final years, and the family is so grateful for the bond they shared. They also want to thank Reno County Hospice for taking such good care of Jack in his final days.
Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Episcopal Church or Cause for Paws, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main Hutchinson, KS 67501. A private family memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church August 8, 2020.
