HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Secret Santa Facebook group is getting started a little later than usual this year. They are just getting their workshop set up at the former Dillon Living Center at 1901 East 23rd.
"Delivery drivers will be needed at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve," said Sharon Surface with Hutchinson Secret Santa. "We are a grass-roots group made entirely of volunteers and operate solely on donations from the community."
They do not work through an agency. Hutchinson Secret Santa is the emergency resource for families in need in the Reno County area. They do cross-reference those who request with other agencies, though, so that all families get help. They provide wrapped, delivered (on Christmas eve) presents for children aged 0 to 18 for families that are unable to provide for their children and did not receive services from other agencies for those children.
If your family needs to sign up, you can go to Hutchinson Secret Santa on Facebook.
They are also still looking for donations of new or clean, gently used toys. The greatest need is for babies age 0 to 2, boys from 4 to 10 and gifts for teenagers, especially boys.
You can drop off gifts at 200 East Ave. F on the porch, or at the old Dillon Living Center. Just follow the signs for the drop off location.
