
HAYSVILLE, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs dropped a 4-1 decision on Thursday night at Carpenter Complex. The game was called final in the middle of the sixth inning due to weather.
The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI double from Jaden Gustafson, scoring Will Edmunson. Both Gustafson and Edmunson recorded two hits apiece to lead the Hutch offense.
The Aviators responded with three runs in the bottom half of the frame on a 3-run double.
Haysville added one more insurance run on an RBI double in the fifth inning to lead 4-1.
The Monarchs were outhit in the game, 7-6, and committed two more errors defensively.
The top four batters in the Monarchs order went a combined 0-for-12 with eight strikeouts. The Monarchs struck out a total of 10 times.
