HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Prairie Hills Middle School is inviting the community to support young entrepreneurs at its annual Spring Market later this month.
The event, now in its fifth year, will take place Sunday, April 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the school, located at 3200 Lucille Drive.
Organized with support from the school’s PTO, the Spring Market was created to give students hands-on experience running their own small businesses. Participating students sign up through the school, pay a $5 booth fee, and are provided a space to sell their products.
Vendors will offer a variety of handmade and homemade items, including jewelry, arts and crafts, baked goods and more.
The event is open to the public, and the school encourages community members to attend and support the student-run businesses. Students keep all profits from their sales, while also gaining practical experience in budgeting, pricing, communication and customer service.
PHMS Principal Abby Thompson says the market not only highlights student creativity but also teaches valuable real-world skills in entrepreneurship.
Organizers describe the event as a fun, family-friendly opportunity to shop local and see what Prairie Hills Middle School students have created.
