HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College sophomore libero Shelby Reeder broke the Blue Dragon single-match record for digs and was named the Jayhawk Conference’s Division I Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Reeder set Hutchinson’s single-match digs record with 37 in a four-set victory over Jefferson College at the Grizzly Invitational in West Plains, MO.

Just a couple of matches after returning to the lineup from injury, Reeder broke the only record of 36 set by Samantha Lackey in 2014 in a five-set match. Reeder now owns the Nos. 1 and 3 all-time single-match dig marks in Blue Dragon history.

For the week, the sophomore from Derby, KS., averaged 5.38 digs per set in a five-match week that featured three nationally ranked teams.

This is the second time in her career that Reeder has been named the KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week. She is the first Blue Dragon this season to win a weekly honor.
