MAYETTA – Led by sophomores David Razinskas and Charlie Box, the Hutchinson Community College men's golf team is seven strokes off the pace at the Washburn Firekeeper Open after play on Monday.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament was suspended by darkness on Monday evening. The Blue Dragons have two holes to complete before the final round begins with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at Firekeeper Golf Club.
The Blue Dragons opened strong Monday morning playing the front nine holes at 7-under par. The Dragons closed the first round at 1-over 289 and was tied with NCAA Division II Central Oklahoma for third place after 18 holes.
The Dragons were 3-over for the second round and are 4-over par as a team for the tournament. Concordia University (MN) is leading the team standings at 3-under par. Concordia has two holes to play. Central Oklahoma is second at 1-over par. Oklahoma Christian completed its second round and is third at 3-over 590 after rounds of 289 and 291. The Dragons are fourth at 4-over par.
Razinskas and Box are tied for 12th individually at 1-over par.
Razinskas shot a 71 in the opening round and is 2-over par with one hole to play.
Box opened with a 69, but is 4-over in the second round with two holes to play.
Jack Northgraves is tied for 19th. He completed his two rounds on Monday, posting scores of 74 and 72 and is at 146 through 36 holes.
Jaydon Carruthers opened with a 77 in the first round, but was 1-under in the second round with one hole to play. He is tied for 28th individually.
Louis Ross shot 75 in the opening round and is 2-over for the second round with one hole to play. Ross is tied for 33rd.
Individual player Corey Scullion is tied for 75th after back-to-back rounds of 77 for a 36-hole total of 154.
