Visit Hutch comments on tourism department move

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly's office announced earlier this week that the state's tourism department will officially become a part of the Department of Commerce. It had previously been together with Wildlife and Parks.

"Visit Hutch is very supportive of this move because the marketing efforts of the Kansas tourism division are designed to attract new visitors and revenue into the state, while the department of commerce efforts are designed to attract new business and revenue into the state," said LeAnn Cox with Visit Hutch. "This move will provide more opportunities for a coordinated effort for business development and attraction development. Tourism and economic development will be partners in growth instead of competing for scarce resources."
