🏀 WBB: Jackson hits 1K in road win

LIBERAL, Kan. — Hailey Jackson joined the 1,000-point club with a career-high 33 points Saturday afternoon at Seward.

The Dragons (26-3, 20-3) jumped out to a 14-1 advantage with 3:35 to play in the first quarter before the Lady Saints (19-10, 14-9) pulled within three just before halftime.

Landon Forbes drilled a three-pointer, the only made-three in the first half for Hutchinson, as the first 20 minutes came to a close to put the Dragons up 26-20 at the break.

The Lady Saints knotted things up at 35 after three quarters of play.

An Avery Marchino layup with 2:47 left tied things again at 47 before the Dragons were able to pull away for good.

Hutchinson closed the game on an 11-3 run.

With her 15th point of the contest, Jackson hit the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Jackson now has 1,018 points in her career, good for seventh on the all-time list.

Jackson also made 14-of-16 free-throw attempts and is third all-time in made free throws with 274.

Jackson finished with 33 points and nine rebounds.

Forbes added 13 points for the Dragons.

Hutchinson closes out the regular season at home with the conference championship on the line against Dodge City Wednesday, March 5, at 5:30 p.m.
