
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the first time at a Major League Baseball ballpark, Home Run Derby X is coming to Kauffman Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 13.
The event marks the sixth and final regular-season stop on the Derby X Race to Salt Lake, bringing with it long-awaited rematches between former Royals stars and their postseason rivals.
The competition will feature two Kansas City-themed squads alongside teams representing the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets.
The Royals Outfield roster includes Lorenzo Cain, Ben Zobrist and Ashton Lansdell, with Alex Gordon serving as coach. The Royals Infield features Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas and Amanda Lorenz, coached by Jeremy Guthrie. The Blue Jays team will be represented by Kevin Pillar, Devon Travis and Rachel Garcia. The Mets roster includes Daniel Murphy, Michael Cuddyer and Tiare Jennings.
In the days leading up to the event, batting practice and media availability with players will take place at Kauffman Stadium, while the Kansas City Royals Urban Youth Academy will host a youth tournament on Friday evening.
On Saturday, batting practice is scheduled from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., followed by the main competition at 7 p.m.
Home Run Derby X, launched by MLB in 2022, is a global competition designed to showcase power hitting with a mix of former stars, rising talent and celebrity participants in a fast-paced format.
