HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Val Shober with the Early Childhood Center wants parents to know that activities continue for the Hutchinson and Reno County commemoration of the Week of the Young Child.

"We are having activities available throughout the community that are no cost to children and families," Shober said. "Week of the Young Child is actually the first week of April, but we like to have it coincide with Third Thursday."

Main Street from Avenue A to Avenue B will be closed to allow a safe space to celebrate with Touch-a-Truck, performances by Family Community Theatre and Poetry In Motion Dance Productions, Food Trucks, and over 25 booths with information and fun activities for the whole family.

"In order to find out exactly what's going on, if people would go to the Third Thursday Hutch Facebook page," Shober said. "They can get a list of the activities that are going on."

There will also be an event at the Hutchinson Zoo on Saturday.

"From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., they can get a free train ride during that time," Shober said.

It's a good opportunity for parents of toddlers to preschoolers to find out for free some of the options for their kids in Hutchinson and Reno County.
