👟 Inman girls, Sterling boys claim CKTL titles at Smisor Stadium

STERLING, Kan. — Inman and Sterling came away with team championships Tuesday at the Central Kansas Track League meet at Smisor Stadium.

Inman won the girls team title with 179 points, followed by Halstead at 163. Hutchinson Central Christian finished third with 82, Sterling was fourth at 52 and Haven placed fifth with 45.

Sterling captured the boys crown with 158 points. Inman was second at 121.5, Halstead took third at 117.5, Haven was fourth at 82.5, Hutchinson Central Christian finished fifth at 27.5 and Burrton scored 18.

In the girls division, Inman leaned on its balance throughout the meet. Olivia Brunk won the 200-meter dash in 27.92 seconds and added a runner-up finish in the 100 at 13.61. Brooklyn Black swept the hurdles, taking the 100 hurdles in 17.03 and the 300 hurdles in 48.86, while the Teutons also won the 4x400 relay in 4:13.57.

The girls 100 title went to Sterling senior Julia Kilgore in 13.35, and she later added an 800 championship in 2:31.16. Halstead’s Briley Allmon swept the distance races, winning the 1,600 in 6:22.77 and the 3,200 in 14:20.11. Haven’s top individual gold came from Rilynn Patry, who won the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 1 inch.

Halstead picked up key girls event wins in the relays and field events. The Dragons edged Inman in the 4x100 relay, 50.84 to 50.87, won the 4x800 in 11:41.77 and got individual titles from Piper Schroeder in the 400, Jordy Schroeder in the high jump, Addisen Wills in the pole vault and Annie Williams in the long jump.

Hutchinson Central Christian also had a strong girls showing. Harper Newcome placed third in the 100 and took second in the long jump, while Townsly Huff finished second in both the high jump and javelin.

On the boys side, Sterling’s depth powered the Black Bears to the team title. Zane Farney won the 100 in 11.59 and the 110 hurdles in 15.24. Jacob Lewis added wins in the 300 hurdles in 43.00 and a runner-up finish in the high jump at 6-0. Sterling also got victories from Wyatt Little in the pole vault and Cale Thomas in the javelin, while placing second in the 4x100 relay.

Inman stayed close behind with a big day in the middle-distance and distance events. Tyler Martisko won the 400 in 52.09 and the 800 in 2:05.46. Riley Roots claimed the 1,600 title in 4:37.64, and the Teutons won the 4x400 relay in 3:38.96.

Halstead turned in one of the meet’s strongest all-around performances in the boys field events and relays. Hudson Hawkins won both the 200 in 24.58 and the long jump at 19-7.50. Evan Wiedeman cleared 6-4 to win the high jump, and the Dragons also won the 4x100 relay in 44.40.

Haven produced several standout efforts, led by Cody Holzrichter, who won the discus with a throw of 151-6 and finished second in the shot put at 40-5. Isaiah Doherty won the 3,200 in 10:48.30 and was runner-up in the 1,600 in 4:40.00, while Cole Brawner placed second in the 400.

Hutchinson Central Christian’s top boys highlight came from Cal Barnett, who won the triple jump with a mark of 43-0.50 and added a third-place finish in the 200. Burrton was led by Ryker Barnes, who finished third in the 800, and Isaac Jones, who placed third in both the 1,600 and 3,200.
