WICHITA, Kan. — Kyle DeBarge delivered a walk-off single to cap a six-run ninth inning as the Wichita Wind Surge rallied from a five-run deficit to beat the Arkansas Travelers 7-6 Wednesday night at Equity Bank Park.
Wichita (26-26) entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 6-1 before sending across six runs to even its record and earn its third victory of the season when trailing after eight innings.
Jaime Ferrer started the rally with a two-run double before Caden Kendle followed with an RBI single to cut Arkansas' lead to 6-4. The Wind Surge then loaded the bases with nobody out and tied the game on a bases-loaded walk and sacrifice fly.
DeBarge completed the comeback with a single up the middle, scoring the winning run and giving Wichita its second victory in the first two games of the six-game series.
DeBarge finished with his 22nd multi-hit game of the season. Kendle recorded his 14th multi-hit game and 10th multi-RBI performance while extending his RBI streak to four games.
Ferrer also had multiple hits and drove in two runs, recording his 13th multi-hit game and third multi-RBI game of the season.
Jake Rucker extended his on-base streak to 25 games, while Graham Brown has now reached safely in six consecutive games.
Arkansas (20-32) took a 2-0 lead on a two-run homer in the third inning before Wichita answered with back-to-back doubles from Rucker and Kendle in the bottom half.
The Travelers added two runs in the sixth, then scored once in both the eighth and ninth innings to build a 6-1 advantage.
Wichita right-hander Riley Quick struck out seven in 3 1/3 innings, while Darren Bowen recorded his 17th scoreless relief appearance of the season.
