County Commission to consider extending sick leave

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County is considering extending COVID sick leave benefits it had offered in 2020 to its employees this year.

Because of the continued pandemic and vaccinations still some time in the future, the County Commission will consider a request from Human Resources Director Renee Harris to extend the current sick leave program.

Under the proposal, any employee suffering from COVID, who is in quarantine or who is caring for a family member who is sick can apply for the extension, providing they haven’t exhausted their hours.

Also Tuesday, the Commission will consider a request to vacate an easement that was to be used for a street in the Rolling Hills Subdivision. Since the street was never constructed, a landowner wants the area vacated so the land can be better used.

Tuesday’s meeting of the Reno County Commission begins at 9 a.m. at the Reno County Courthouse.
