CITY OF HUTCHINSON
Union Pacific Railroad has notified the City of Hutchinson of upcoming railroad crossing closures that will affect traffic flow in several areas of the community beginning Tuesday.
The crossings at 17th Avenue, 6th Avenue, and 4th Avenue will be fully closed. Traffic will be detoured to 11th Avenue, though it is not yet clear which specific routes will be used to direct traffic there. Detour traffic is being managed by a third party. As soon as more information is available, the city will provide a detour map to assist drivers.
11th Avenue will remain open during this time, but crews will also be making repairs in that area. A flagger will be on site to help move traffic safely through the work zone.
Additional closures will occur at the Lorraine Street and 2nd Avenue railroad crossing.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes when possible. Please use caution in work zones and follow the directions of signage and flaggers for your safety and the safety of the crews.
The City of Hutchinson will share additional information and updates as they are provided by Union Pacific Railroad.
