CITY OF HUTCHINSON

The City of Hutchinson Utility Department will perform a planned water valve replacement at the intersection of 30th Avenue and Plum Street beginning at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25.

Preparation for the project has begun as crews excavate and prepare the work area. While motorists may encounter temporary lane reductions near the intersection during this time, water service will remain uninterrupted until the scheduled overnight replacement begins.

The aging valves at this location are being replaced as part of the City’s ongoing efforts to maintain a reliable water distribution system. The valve replacement work is expected to take several hours to complete.

During the overnight operation, approximately 30 businesses and a small number of residences will experience a temporary interruption in water service. To ensure affected customers are aware of the project, Utility Department staff have been going door-to-door and distributing informational door hangers throughout the impacted area.

The interactive map at this link, allows residents and businesses to determine whether their address will be affected by the temporary water shutdown. There will not be a need to boil water or discard ice following the work.

Questions about the project may be directed to Matt Perdue, Water Maintenance Supervisor.  He can be reached at 620-694-1900.
