Union Pacific Railroad Crossing Closures Planned in Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Union Pacific Railroad has notified the City of Hutchinson of upcoming railroad crossing closures that will affect traffic at multiple locations.

The Plum Street railroad crossing, located just north of Avenue D, will be closed on April 8 and 9. During this closure, traffic will be detoured using Avenue F to Chestnut Street to Avenue C.

Additional railroad crossing closures are scheduled for April 14 and 15, 2026, at the following locations just north of Avenue D:

Detour routes for the April 14 and 15 closures will be shared once they are finalized.

Each closure is expected to last approximately 24 to 36 hours. Barricades and flaggers will be in place during active work hours to help direct traffic and maintain safety in the work zone.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes when possible. Please use caution in work zones and follow all posted signage and instructions from flaggers.
