Cris Corey provided a response to Hutch Post Thursday after the Republican Central Committee issued a press release clarifying their official support for his opponent. Below is that response.
I am a proud Republican. Recently there has been a conflict within the local Republican Party between traditional pro-business moderates and far right radicals. Every step of the way I have been the voice of cooperation and inclusion. Without support from the radical group that presently runs the Reno County Republican Party, I came within two votes of winning the Republican Primary.
In this general election for the expanded county commission, voters should consider the person, not just the party. If voters focus on our principals, our character, and our ideas and look at our track records of service, they’ll see I am the obvious choice. Reno County can have a bright future, but it will require a county commission willing to listen to and work with all Reno Countians regardless of party affiliation. A write-in vote for Cris Corey for Reno County Commissioner District 1 is a vote for cooperation and progress and against harmful and unproductive extremism.
