🏀 Duncan's 20 points leads Blue Dragon women into Christmas break with a win

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — No. 18 Hutchinson Community College closed out the pre-Christmas portion of its schedule with a 77-67 win over Cloud County on Saturday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons will enter 2026 with a 11-3 record, 6-2 in Jayhawk Conference play. 

Katie Duncan scored a game-high 20 points and Whitney Brown added 16 to lead the Blue Dragons, who held a two-possession edge most of the afternoon and used a strong third quarter to create separation.

Hutchinson led 38-29 at halftime and pushed the margin to 60-48 after three quarters. Cloud County made a late push in the fourth, trimming the deficit to 65-62 on a Sofija Todorovic 3-pointer with 5:30 left, but the Blue Dragons answered with timely baskets and free throws down the stretch to keep control.

Delora Pricop finished with 14 points off the bench for Hutchinson, while KaMyra Barber posted 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Brown totaled seven assists and Duncan had four assists as Hutchinson finished with 23 assists on 30 made field goals.

Shea Wurtz led Cloud County with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Amanda Makela scored 14 points and Todorovic added 13 for the T-Birds.

The Blue Dragons are off until January 3, 2026 when they travel to Colby to face the Trojans.
