HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Kansas U.S. Senate candidates Democrat Barbara Bollier and Republican Dr. Roger Marshall both say they will listen if elected. But, what does that mean?
"I think what you do is you listen to lots of people," Marshall said. "I pray about it. Certainly, I listen to experts in the area that the issue is impacting the most. Typically the people closest to the problem have the best solutions. I try to listen to those possible solutions and put the ideas together and move the ball forward."
Bollier believes listening happens with more than your ears.
"Listening means listening to understand, to find out if what you thought is accurate or not," Bollier said. "Listening is more than just listening to people. Listening is following science and looking at data and putting all these things together."
Most polls in the race put it within the statistical margin of error.
