Deputies catch 2 suspects hiding in abandoned Kan. home

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects in connection with a home burglary.

Just after 6a.m. Jan. 4, a sheriff's  sergeant patrolling northwest Shawnee County observed a red 2018 Chevrolet Colorado parked behind an abandoned residence in the 1700 block of NW Countryside Road, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

Multiple units, including a K9 unit, arrived on scene to assist. The residence was cleared and two individuals were located inside.

Deputies arrested Lindsey L. Wabaunsee ,34, and Zane R. McHenry, 34, both of Topeka and transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.

After questioning, Wabaunsee and McHenry were taken to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of criminal damage to property and criminal trespass.
