NICKERSON, Kan. - Although only an incoming sophomore at Nickerson High School for this fall semester, Ava Jones has opened some D1 coaches eyes. She has announced that she has been offered a basketball scholarship at Oklahoma State University. Head Nickerson girls basketball coach Jon Mclean told Eagle Radio Sports that Jones also has been offered by Wichita State and UMKC out of Kansas City.
Former Seward County head women's basketball coach Jim Littell is the head coach at Oklahoma State University.
Jones averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds a game as a freshman for Nickerson which made it to the semi-finals in class 4A basketball before the covid-19 pandemic ended the season.
