🏈 Dragons remain No. 1 following Top-10 road win

Saturday's 18-point victory over No. 9 Iowa Central in Fort Dodge, Iowa secured the Hutchinson Community College football team the top spot in the NJCAA Division I rankings for the fifth-straight week.

The Blue Dragons (3-0) defeated No. 9 Iowa Central 35-17, pulling away in the final 18 minutes after outscoring the Tritons 21-3.

The Blue Dragons extend their program record for longest consecutive weeks in the national poll with to 53 weeks. The Dragons have been ranked in the top three of the NJCAA Rankings for 47 consecutive polls and have been ranked No. 1 in 42 of the 72 polls released in the Drew Dallas era.

Hutchinson is now 2-0 this season against NJCAA-ranked opponents. The Blue Dragons defeated No. 2 Iowa Western on September 13 at Gowans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons have a bye week this week and will travel to Ellsworth Community College on October 4 to close out their non-conference portion of the season. Hutchinson opens Jayhawk Conference play at Dodge City on October 11.

Hutchinson and Iowa Western remain the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the nation. Tyler stayed at No. 3, but Mississippi Gulf Coast and Navarro move into the Nos. 4 and 5 spots, respectively after previous No. 4 Garden City fell 31-29 on a walk-off field goal by Coffeyville on Saturday.

Garden City (2-1) slipped to No. 8, while Butler (3-0) jumped to No. 9 after defeating Independence in overtime on Saturday. Coffeyville is receiving votes.
