GREENSBORO, N.C. – After leading the Big 12 in saves during the regular season, K-State relief pitcher Tyson Neighbors was voted to the 2023 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-America Second Team, the organization announced Friday.
Neighbors earned his third All-America honor following his standout sophomore campaign where he struck out 86 batters in his 48 2/3 innings in relief.
First recognized in 1949, the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA DI All-America teams are selected by the ABCA All-America & Coach of the Year committee, which is chaired by Tommy Raffo of Arkansas State.
The right-hander from Royse City, Texas is the eighth Wildcat in school history to earn ABCA All-America accolades and first since Ross Kivett in 2013.
He was named a Big 12 Pitcher of the Week in addition to his All-Big 12 First Team selection. Neighbors broke the program's TrackMan-era pitch velocity record at 99-mph in the series opening win against Texas Tech.
