Reno County Planning Commission to further discuss wind regulations Thursday

Posted Jul 21, 2020 3:56 PM

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Possible zoning regulations for wind farms will be up for further discussion by the Reno County Planning Commission during their regular meeting on Thursday.

The Planning Board has been discussing regulations for wind farms ever since a proposal by NextEra to build a wind farm near Pretty Prairie failed to get support from the County Commission. The wind farm has been met with support from most of the business community but opposition from area landowners.

No action will be taken during the meeting and there will be no public comment session. The matter is the only item on the agenda for the Planning Commission meeting which begins at  4:30 p.m. at the Public Works facility at 600 Scott Blvd in South Hutchinson.

There will be just six chairs for the audience and masks will be required. The meeting can be viewed on the county’s YouTube channel.
