
DODGE CITY, Kan. — Hutchinson (8-5, 3-4) used a dominant second half to defeat No. 21 Dodge City (8-4, 4-2) Wednesday night on the road.
The Dragons held one of the nation's top scorers to just two points in the first half on 1-of-9 shooting.
Derrick Rivers (24 ppg) finished the night with just 12 points on 4-of-19 shooting, including 0-for-6 from three.
Meanwhile, the Dragons hit 10-of-20 triples.
Asher Boney went 3-for-3 from distance and finished the night with 12 points.
Kyrell Shaw just missed a triple-double with his 20 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.
The Dragons built a 35-30 lead headed into the break and opened the second half by building a double-digit lead in the opening 10 minutes.
Shaw hit back-to-back threes after an Anthony Alston triple to put Hutchinson up 75-56 late in the second half.
Alston finished with 11 points.
Five Dragons, led by Shaw's 20, scored in double digits.
Daleron Thomas went 6-for-7 from the field and finished with 15 points.
