The Harvey County Health Department will close to the public from June 25 to June 30 as it prepares to relocate from the third floor to a newly renovated second-floor space at 215 S. Pine St. in Newton.

The department plans to resume its normal business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning on July 1.

The move is part of a broader remodeling project underway at the county-owned, three-story facility. The Health Department had been temporarily housed on the third floor while renovations took place on its permanent second-floor offices.

Harvey County purchased the Pine Street building in 2022 to address growing space needs at the Harvey County Courthouse. In November 2024, county commissioners approved a bid from Vogts Construction to lead the remodeling project, which began in January following design planning and public discussion.

Several other county departments are also slated to relocate to the building in phases. The Planning, Zoning and Environmental Department will be the next to move in the coming months, followed by the Department on Aging, the Appraiser’s Office and the Harvey County office of Kansas State Research and Extension.

The full remodel is expected to be completed later this year.
