The USD 308 Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. at the district’s administrative center. On the agenda is approval of a new teacher contract with NEA-Hutchinson that includes salary increases and improved health insurance support for district employees.
The proposed agreement would raise the base salary by $2,900, bringing starting pay for new teachers with a bachelor’s degree to $49,500. Educators with a master’s degree, 60 additional credit hours, and 16 years of experience could earn up to $74,799. The district would also contribute $615 per month toward employee health insurance premiums.
The contract also establishes supplemental pay rates for coaching and activity roles. The stipends range from $723 for an assistant Key Club sponsor to $8,062 for the high school head football coach.
Also on the action item portion of the agenda is the presentation and possible approval of the district’s Cardiac Emergency Plan.
On the superintendent’s consent portion of the agenda is consideration for replacement of the roof top HVAC replacement on the high school’s north gym. The proposal from Trane is $29, 667.55. Also, the approval of funding for solar shades to be installed in 20 classrooms at Faris Elementary. The proposal from Schammerhorn Custom Window Treatments is for $$25,667.55 and includes the installation of the new shades and removal of the existing blinds.
The agenda also includes multiple agreements with community and educational partners. These include partnerships with the Boys & Girls Club, ESSDACK (Educational Services and Staff Development Association of Central Kansas), JAG-K (Jobs for America’s Graduates–Kansas), McAdams Academy, Reno County Education Cooperative #610, Salthawk Community Support at Trinity United Methodist Church, United Way of Reno County, and swimming pool rental agreement with the YMCA.
