NEWTON, Kan. — The City of Newton this week received a first place award from the Kansas Asphalt Pavement Association for the Main Street paving project completed earlier this year.

The $1.5 million project included milling and overlay, ADA ramp replacement, and some full-depth patching on Main Street between the BNSF Railway crossing and 11th Street. 

It was funded in part by the Kansas Department of Transportation’s City Connecting Links Improvement Program (CCLIP). APAC Shears of Hutchinson was the contractor.

Newton project wins paving award
