Police investigate fight, gunfire at Kansas gas station

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an altercation that involved a gun at during a fight at a gas station.

Just before noon Thursday, police were dispatched to the 300 Block of South West Street for what was originally called a shooting, according to Officer Trevor Macy.

Upon arrival and an investigation, police learned a victim had arrived to purchase gas at the Quick Trip.  A suspect arrived at another gas pump. After they went inside the convenience store to pay, the two got into an argument and a physical altercation, according to Macy.

During the altercation, the victim pulled a gun, it discharged and struck the concrete. It did not hit anyone and nobody was injured. Police believe the two men may know each other. Officers are reviewing security camera images as they continue their investigation, according to Macy.
