Home Destroyed in Early Morning Hutchinson House Fire

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department responded to 304 East 3rd Avenue early this morning for a report of a fully involved vacant residential structure. Time of call was 0413.

Upon arrival, crews reported a fully involved single story structure with exposure concerns on both sides of the fully involved structure. Fire crews went into a defensive strategy to save both exposures and extinguish the home. Three engines and two ladder trucks were used to contain the fire and protect the adjacent properties.

Crews continue to work on containing hot spots and removing burnt foam board insulation from a fifth wheel trailer that also caught on fire.

According to the owner, the home was used as a storage building and slowly being remodeled. No one was living at the home at the time of the incident. No injuries were noted throughout the incident.

Fire investigators will be working to gather the facts to help in determining a cause of this fire. The fire remains under investigation.

The Hutchinson Fire Department was assisted by the 911 Dispatch Center, Hutchinson Police Department, Reno County EMS, Kansas Gas, and Evergy. The Hutchinson Fire Department wants to thank the Hutchinson Police Department for there great assistance in quickly evacuating the adjacent occupied homes.
