EL DORADO, Kan. — No. 2 Hutchinson (4-0, 2-0) shut out No. 12 Butler (1-2, 0-1) Saturday afternoon 24-0.
The Dragons notched shutouts in back-to-back league games for the first time since 1982. The 24-0 victory comes a week after Hutchinson defeated Garden City 70-0.
It is the first time Butler has been held scoreless since November of 2017.
The Dragons have surrendered just 10 points in four games this season.
Quarterback Randy Phillips stayed hot with two more touchdown passes and 254 yards through the air.
Phillips hit Jeremiah Looney on a 79-yard bomb to close out the first quarter and give the Dragons a 17-0 lead.
The touchdown toss came after a quarter that featured J.B. Price's seventh rushing touchdown of the season and a Parker Grizzell record-breaking kick.
Grizzell used the wind to his advantage and connected on a school-record 54-yard field goal halfway through the first quarter.
Aiden Bruce muffed a punt that gave Butler the ball in the red zone.
The Dragon defense held and forced a Grizzly field-goal attempt into the strong wind.
Kicker Yusef Iskandrani couldn't connect from 39 yards out and finished the day with two misses after his 54-yard attempt just before the half sailed wide left.
Hutchinson did not score again until late in the third quarter when Karlan Ransom hauled in a 33-yard pass from Phillips.
Looney (116 yards) and Ransom (99 yards) each hauled in four receptions and a touchdown.
The Hutchinson defense held Butler to 3-of-16 (19%) on third down, tallied three sacks and pulled in one interception.
Quarterback Phoenix Murphy managed just 7-of-16 passing for 48 yards.
The Dragons held the Grizzlies to 114 yards of total offense on 51 plays (2.2 yards per play).
The Dragons racked up 426 yards of offense.

Hutchinson had two penalties wipe out two touchdowns on the day.
One penalty negated another Phillips touchdown pass while the other brought back an Aiden Bruce 75-yard punt return.
Hutchinson returns home Sept. 26 in the highly-anticipated No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown as top-ranked Iowa Western comes to town for a noon kickoff.
